Problems, parts and running costs

Summary

A tiny Peltier dehumidifier for light moisture in a warm closet, RV or small bathroom. Check the real extraction rate before you buy, because measured capacity is a fraction of the seller’s headline and there is no humidistat or drain hose.

Strengths

  • Very quiet and compact enough for a closet, RV or desk-side.
  • Easy tank removal with full-tank auto shutoff before the brim.
  • Removes more moisture than the ProBreeze PB-02 and Eva-Dry EDV-1100 in RTINGS’ comparison.
  • Some long-term owners report two and a half to five years of frequent service.
  • A washable rear filter means no disposable consumable to buy.
  • RTINGS names it its best small dehumidifier.

Weaknesses

  • Measured extraction is only 0.2 L per day at 77°F, far below the seller’s 450 mL maximum.
  • No humidistat, continuous drain or pump, so the tank must be emptied by hand.
  • Peltier output drops as conditions get cooler and drier; the manual warns collection weakens below about 47°F.
  • No defrost on this White revision despite auto-defrost wording on newer color pages.
  • Owners report units that stop collecting water or fail within months, though others last years.
  • Support is weak: one owner’s support email bounced and no parts portal was found.

What it actually removes

Seller copy leads with 450 mL per day, but that figure assumes 86°F and 80% RH. RTINGS tested the White unit and measured only 0.2 L per day at 77°F, with 9 CFM airflow and poor 0.2 L/kWh efficiency, scoring 2.5 for capacity. It rated small-bedroom use decent at 7.3, while basement use at 3.5 and large-room use at 4.4 were poor. The 280 sq ft claim is placement guidance, not a promise to dry a damp room, and a compact compressor unit is the meaningful step up.

Running costs and upkeep

At RTINGS’ measured 34 W, running continuously uses about 0.816 kWh a day, 24.5 kWh a month and roughly 298 kWh a year. At an illustrative $0.15 to $0.35/kWh that is about $45 to $104 a year, which can approach the purchase price while removing very little water per unit of electricity. Upkeep is simple: keep the inlet, outlet and washable rear filter clean and rinse the removable tank. No disposable filter or desiccant is required, so electricity is the only recurring cost.

Noise and heat

RTINGS measured 38.1 dBA, louder than the seller’s unexplained 28 dB claim but still quiet enough for a bedroom. The unit raised room temperature by only 1.1°F (0.6°C). Some owners call it quiet while others hear the fan clearly, and the Peltier design adds a little warmth without a compressor’s noise.

Reliability and support

Owner reports split between early failures and long service. Several describe no power, a dead fan, or a unit that keeps running but stops collecting water after one to several months, while another owner reports about five years of near-continuous use. Treat longevity as variable rather than a known defect rate. Support is weak: no parts portal was found, one owner’s support email bounced, and the commonly repeated two-year warranty comes from retailer metadata while the manual states one year.

Is it worth it?

Buy it for a genuinely small, warm, enclosed space where quietness and size matter more than capacity. Walmart Business listed the exact White unit at $39.99 but out of stock, and Newegg listed it at $72.99 from a marketplace seller; at the higher end the weak extraction and efficiency are hard to justify. At $30 or less it is a strong buy, $31 to $40 is fair to good, $41 to $50 is weak unless the tiny footprint is essential, and above $50 skip it for a real humidity problem. A compact refrigerant unit, such as the Midea Cube 20 Pint, removes about 5.2 L per day with a humidistat and continuous drainage.

Which model this is

This page covers the TABYIK 35 OZ dehumidifier in White, model DH-CS01 and ASIN B09TSZTMZ2. The White revision uses UPC 860011529606; newer or other-color pages can show a different UPC and auto-defrost wording, so match the White listing. Grey and Navy Blue are the same hardware, and the 35 OZ in the name is the tank size, not the daily moisture removal.
