Summary
The SoundPEATS Air5 Pro is a budget true wireless earbud for Android users who want flagship-tier codecs — LDAC, aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive — and adaptive ANC in a 4.8 g package. Check the battery claim before you buy: with ANC on, independent tests measured 3h54m to 4.5h per charge, well under the advertised 7.5h.
Strengths
- LDAC, aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive support at this price is rare.
- Adaptive ANC measured at 83% average noise reduction — strong for the price.
- Lightweight at 4.8 g and comfortable for extended wear.
- The PeatsAudio app is comprehensive: 10-band EQ, 12+ presets, ANC modes, Game Mode, Find Earbuds, fit test.
- IPX5 rating handles sweat and rain.
- A 10-minute fast charge returns 2 hours of playback.
Weaknesses
- Battery with ANC on falls well short of the 7.5 h claim — 3h54m to 4.5 h in independent tests.
- The default sound is bass-heavy with thin mids; budget time for the EQ presets.
- The microphone is mediocre and muffled in some conditions.
- No wear detection, so music does not auto-pause when you pull an earbud out.
- No wireless charging.
- Touch controls can be counterintuitive: single tap for volume, long press for track skip.

Sound out of the box
The default tuning is bass-heavy with thin mids. SoundGuys’ objective sound measurement landed below average, while Tom’s Guide heard a bass-forward signature that is “great for the price” with occasional tinniness, and owners in r/Earbuds call it “balanced” and “lively and dynamic”. The 10-band EQ in the PeatsAudio app fixes much of the gap — SoundGuys’ score improved with the presets — so treat the tuning as a setup step, not a defect.
Setup also gates the headline feature. LC3 and LDAC ship disabled and must be turned on in the app, and enabling LDAC requires turning multipoint off first. iPhone users get AAC only and lose the Air5 Pro’s main advantage. One owner replaced Beats Fit Pro with the Air5 Pro, citing better sound, a more reliable connection and a more functional app.
Battery life and charging
The 7.5 h claim is for listening with ANC off. With ANC on, SoundGuys measured 3h54m and APH Networks 4.5h; owners in r/Earbuds report 6–6.5h with ANC on, so real-world results vary with fit, volume and mode. The 520 mAh case brings the total to a claimed 37 hours. Charging is USB-C only — about 1 h for the earbuds, 2 h for the case — and there is no Qi wireless charging. RedditRecs’ aggregated cons list ear detection, fit and seal, and battery life.
Noise cancelling and call quality
SoundGuys measured the adaptive ANC at 83% average noise reduction, with 30–40 dB of attenuation when the fit is good — strong for the price, though not the claimed 55 dB across all frequencies. The reviews disagree: Tom’s Guide called the ANC “pretty poor”, APH Networks found it “quite good in real-world tests”, and owners in r/Earbuds threads call it “outstanding” and “better than I expected”. Fit and expectations explain much of the spread. Four ANC modes (Adaptive, Indoor, Outdoor, Traffic) and two transparency modes cover most situations.
The 6-mic array with AI ENC is the weaker half. SoundGuys found it acceptable for quick calls but not for frequent meetings; APH Networks called it muffled but understandable. If you take a lot of calls, weigh this compromise.
Is it worth it?
SoundPEATS lists the Air5 Pro at $79.99 MSRP in Black and White (soundpeats.com, 2025). The value holds up under $50, stays strong through $70, and is fair through $90; above that, alternatives with better out-of-box sound, wireless charging or stronger brand support become available. If your Android phone supports LDAC or aptX Lossless, the codec support alone justifies the price; iPhone users get AAC only. Tom’s Guide (June 2025) points to the EarFun Air 2 at $49 and the Air 2 NC at $69 as cheaper options.
There are no user-serviceable parts and no repairability information. The 1-year limited warranty runs from the original purchase date and requires an authorized seller.
