Summary
Closed-back around-ear wireless headphones with 42 mm drivers, hybrid adaptive noise cancellation and a claimed 60 hours of battery life with ANC on. Check the trade-off before buying: independent tests put the noise cancellation behind the Sony and Bose competition, even though the sound and battery lead.
Strengths
- Battery life is the standout: SoundGuys measured 56 hours 21 minutes with ANC on, and RTINGS reported 62 hours.
- SoundGuys found a frequency response very close to its target curve, and PCMag called the tuning balanced and distortion-free at high volume.
- USB-C digital audio is a stable wired path, and multipoint pairs two devices at once.
- A five-minute charge covers up to four hours, and a full charge takes about two hours.
- The thick leatherette padding is comfortable for long sessions.
Weaknesses
- Independent tests put the ANC roughly 5 dB behind the Sony WH-1000XM5, and it struggles most with low rumbles.
- Microphone noise rejection is a known weakness.
- The Smart Control app repeatedly failed to recognize paired headphones for two outlets, and PCMag called the EQ coarse.
- The build is largely plastic with no IP rating, and the headphones do not fold.
- The auto on and off feature misfired for one reviewer, who disabled it.
- No exact-model owner-forum failure evidence was collected, so durability over years is undocumented.

Battery life
This is the defensible headline. Sennheiser claims up to 60 hours of playback with ANC on, tested on an iPhone at mid volume. SoundGuys ran its own standardized test at 75 dB SPL peaks with ANC on and measured 56 hours 21 minutes, against 31 hours for the Sony WH-1000XM5 and 25 hours for the Bose QuietComfort 45 in the same lab; RTINGS separately reported 62 hours. Tom’s Guide called it the longest battery life of any noise-cancelling headphone it had tested. Quick-charge figures vary across Sennheiser’s own materials: the current specification page says five minutes for up to four hours, while the printed quick guide says three hours and Sennheiser’s marketing materials have quoted six hours from ten minutes.
Noise cancellation
PCMag found the ANC highly effective at maximum intensity with Adaptive ANC on, handling low rumble and restaurant noise without masking hiss, but letting a faint hiss through with Adaptive ANC off, and trailing both the Sony WH-1000XM5 and the Bose QuietComfort 45. SoundGuys puts the Sony gap at about 5 dB more noise reduction and gives the MOMENTUM 4 an isolation sub-score of 4.8. RTINGS notes the ANC struggles specifically with low rumbles. If your commute is noisy, that is the real cost; at home or in an office, the sound quality is the stronger reason to choose it.
Sound and app
SoundGuys measured a frequency response very close to its house curve, with a sub-bass bump and some high emphasis that the in-app EQ corrects, and gave the tuning an MDAQS Timbre score of 4.8. PCMag describes a bass-forward but balanced signature that does not distort at maximum volume. The practical weak point is the app: PCMag had Smart Control repeatedly fail to recognize headphones that were paired to an iPhone, even after installing all available firmware, and criticized the three-band EQ as too coarse. The Tom’s Guide reviewer was often unable to reach the app’s controls at all.
Which model this is
This is the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, model M4AEBT, launched in Black and White and later widened to Graphite, Brown, Teal, Copper and Denim. Do not confuse it with the MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 earbuds, the previous-generation MOMENTUM 3 Wireless or the cheaper ACCENTUM line. Sennheiser launched the MOMENTUM 5 Wireless in May 2026, which makes this a previous-generation model. The Amazon listing for this model is ASIN B0B6GHW1SX.
Is it worth it?
Choose the MOMENTUM 4 for sound quality and battery life in low-noise settings; choose a Sony or Bose model if commute-grade noise cancellation and microphone clarity come first. At launch money the ANC gap against current-generation rivals is harder to justify, and well below it the sound and battery make it one of the stronger options in the category. Budget for the non-folding, plastic build and treat the app as a work in progress.
