Summary
A 47mm titanium Wear OS smartwatch with LTE, dual-band GPS and Samsung Health tracking, built for Android owners who want a watch that keeps working away from the phone. Before you buy, confirm the seller’s exact SKU and that your carrier supports the watch’s eSIM.
Strengths
- Vivid 1.5-inch sapphire display and a 3nm chip handle Wear OS, offline Spotify and Google apps without stutter.
- Battery runs about two-plus days under active features on shared-hardware tests, longer than many Wear OS watches.
- Dual-band GPS tracked close to dedicated Garmin units in 2024 field testing.
- LTE adds calls, messages and streaming without the phone, and 64GB holds a local music library.
- Sapphire, titanium and 10 ATM construction take ordinary outdoor use, with large grippy controls.
- Official Marine and Trail replacement bands are available from Samsung.
Weaknesses
- Bulky: a 60.5g body before the strap, with no smaller Ultra case for small wrists.
- Real-world battery falls short of the 100-hour power-saving figure; owners report charging every two or three days.
- LTE streaming can push the watch into cooling mode after minutes in weak signal, per owner reports.
- It is not a scuba device; 10 ATM is not a dive certification and does not carry the Ultra2’s EN13319 rating.
- Accessories are proprietary: official replacement bands cost $79.99 each and phone PowerShare does not work.
- No physical rotating bezel, and some health features need a Galaxy phone, Samsung Health Monitor and regional eligibility.

Battery life and the 100-hour claim
Samsung’s 590mAh cell carries claims of up to 60 hours with the always-on display and up to 100 hours in power-saving mode, each under specified scenarios. Independent testing of the shared 2024 hardware is more grounded: Android Central’s long run first saw about 40 hours, then 60 hours with 21% remaining after an update, while Wareable’s test landed at 35-55 hours. Treat two or three days between charges as normal once GPS, LTE and the always-on screen are in play. A June 2026 owner reported roughly 10% lost overnight, and a May 2026 critic got less than two full days in their configuration.
LTE overheating and carrier setup
The headline LTE feature is the part to test first. Owners describe standalone Spotify and LTE streaming pushing the watch into cooling mode after roughly 5-15 minutes, with a July 2025 post and an August 2025 account of LTE calls both landing there, and a February 2026 Samsung Community user on a 2025 Ultra reported emergency-only mode while streaming on cellular. Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat this as a weak-signal heat limitation to check in your area rather than a defect on every unit. Carrier provisioning is its own hurdle: an August 2025 owner logged repeated failed Verizon activations, so confirm your carrier supports the watch’s eSIM and test it inside the return window.
Bands, charger and running costs
Nothing here needs an annual service, but the accessories are proprietary. The watch uses a dedicated snap/lock band connection rather than standard quick-release pins, and official Marine, Peakform and Trail bands are $79.99 each from Samsung. The charging puck is the other part to track: Samsung’s EP-OL300BBEGUJ is documented compatible and lists at $29.99, down from a $39.99 regular. Wireless PowerShare from a phone does not work on this Ultra because of the redesigned sensor back, so a dedicated watch charger is required. Samsung Care+ appeared at $3 a month or $49 for a two-year term at Samsung’s 2026 checkout. An LTE carrier line adds a recurring monthly charge that varies by carrier and plan, so get the terms in writing before activation.
Which model this is
This page covers the 2025 refresh of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, the 47mm US model family SM-L705U, sold in Titanium Blue. Samsung’s product page and its December 2025 MSRP sheet give the exact Blue code as SM-L705UZB1XAA, and Best Buy lists that same SKU as 6635999. The code in this page’s address, SM-L705UZBQXAA, could not be matched to a known color, band or region variant in the checked material, so confirm the label and UPC on the seller’s page rather than assuming the suffixes are interchangeable. Do not expect the 2026 Ultra2’s 5,000-nit screen, IP69K or EN13319 dive rating here: the 2025 watch is a 3,000-nit, 10 ATM, IP68, MIL-STD-810H device.
Is it worth it?
Judge it on LTE and storage. On the shared 2024 hardware the watch is fast, the screen is excellent and GPS tracking is close to a dedicated running unit, but the 2025 refresh mostly adds 64GB of storage and a blue finish over the 2024 Ultra’s 32GB, and the older watch can run One UI 8 Watch too. Samsung’s MSRP for the Blue SM-L705UZB1XAA was $649.99, Best Buy advertised $549.99 under a promotion that ended September 8, 2026, and Micro Center listed it at $649.99. Above $600 the 2026 Ultra2 at $699.99 adds an 800mAh battery, a 5,000-nit display and the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, so it is the better spend. If you do not need the rugged case, the Watch8 44mm LTE at $379.99 is far lighter.
