Battery life and charging

Battery life depends heavily on test conditions. Wirecutter measured about 9.5 hours of real-world browsing and streaming, and up to 12 hours with light use. TechAdvisor’s PCMark test ran 13h 28min, and TechRadar claims about 20 hours in its video test. Consumer Reports measured 17 hours of browsing and 16.4 hours of movies on the 128GB model. In r/GalaxyTab threads, owners report about two days of real-world use on adaptive battery mode.

Charging is 45W wired, but no charger is in the box. TechAdvisor measured 0-27% in 15 minutes, 0-49% in 30 minutes and 0-100% in 1h 30min with a 45W charger; TechRadar measured 1h 44min. Wirecutter noted a full charge takes about 3 hours on a 65W third-party adapter.

Performance and display

The Exynos 1580 handles everyday tasks smoothly but trails the competition. TechAdvisor found performance behind the OnePlus Pad 2 and Honor Pad V9, and CNET called it “middling” against the Dimensity 9300+ in the Tab S10+. In r/GalaxyTab threads, owners report fast, lag-free everyday use.

The 10.9-inch LCD is sharp at 2304 × 1440 and reaches 600 nits typical, 800 nits in High Brightness Mode. CNET lab-measured 836 nits on the FE+ and Tom’s Guide measured 782 nits peak in Vivid mode, with 129.5% sRGB and 91.7% DCI-P3 coverage. Colors are vibrant, but the panel trails AMOLED on contrast and blacks, and there is no Dolby Vision or HDR10+. At 90Hz it also lags the 144Hz panels on some rivals.

Software and updates

The tablet ships with Android 15 and One UI 7, upgradeable to Android 16. Samsung promises six years of OS updates, with security patches through 30 April 2032. One UI can feel cluttered with pre-installed apps, and some features require payment.

Is it worth it?

Launch MSRP was $499.99 in April 2025, a $50 increase over the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Wirecutter listed it at $395 from Walmart in October 2026. At under $400 it is a strong value: IP68, included S Pen, updates through 2032 and a good display for the price. Between $401 and $500 it is fair value at MSRP, facing stiffer competition from rivals with OLED screens and faster chips. Above $500 it is weak unless you specifically need the Samsung ecosystem, the S Pen or IP68; above $600, look at the premium Tab S11 or iPad Air instead.

No charger is in the box, and 45W charging needs a separate purchase. Wirecutter lists the Book Cover Keyboard at about $100 and the Smart Book Cover at about $80. No subscription is required for core functionality. Samsung offers Care+ extended warranty and a self-repair program.
