Summary
A one-handed mechanical keyboard for gamers who want a compact, programmable left-hand keypad next to the mouse. Check which K585 you are buying: the wired DITI, the wireless PRO and later hot-swappable variants share the name, and macros require Redragon’s companion software.
Strengths
- Solid and weighty for the price, and it stays put during play.
- Outemu Blue switches give a crisp, satisfying tactile click.
- The one-handed 40% layout frees desk space and brings the mouse closer.
- The magnetic wrist rest clips on and off easily and holds during normal use.
- A USB pass-through port is handy for a mouse or headset.
- Good value for budget gamers, and MMO players can bind many spells.
Weaknesses
- Macro programming and key remapping require Redragon’s software, which reviewers call buggy, badly scaled and hard to read.
- The Sonix controller is not QMK or VIA compatible, so custom firmware is off the table.
- Owners report occasional freeze or disconnect during play, including units that turn on and off.
- RGB is limited to 5 effects, and whites show a strong pink hue.
- The wrist rest magnets let go if you lift the keyboard by the rest.
- ABS keycaps shine over time, and there are no feet to change the typing angle.

Which model this is
Redragon sells several keyboards under the K585 name. The original wired K585 DITI is USB-C only; the K585 PRO adds 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth; later variants are hot-swappable. The listing behind this page is ASIN B07NBJVH4G, which looks like the wired RGB version, but some spec sheets describe the wireless PRO instead, so confirm the connection type and the switch color before you buy. All variants share the 42-key layout, Outemu switches, 7 macro keys and the magnetic wrist rest.
Layout and switches
The physical design is the strongest part. TechPowerUp noted it uses desk space well and puts the mouse closer for ergonomics, and it measured the Outemu Blue switches at 50 ± 5 gf actuation force with 2 mm tactile and 4 mm total travel, averaging about 49.55 cN across 20 switches. Switch Hitter found no key chatter. The case is two pieces, which keeps light bleed low around the keys. There are no feet, so the angle is fixed, and some new owners rotate the keyboard 20° and remap WASD to reach the thumb cluster more comfortably.
Software and setup
The companion app is the weak link. TechPowerUp called it the worst keyboard software it had seen, and both reviewers point to poor Windows scaling, cut-off menu text and a thin set of options. The software is required for macros and remapping, and on the wireless model it only works while the keyboard is in wired mode. A Tom’s Hardware forum user reported the software failing to detect the K585 PRO at all. Because the controller is a Sonix chip, a 2021 QMK feature request was closed without implementation.
Reliability and upkeep
Owner reports are mixed. Praise centers on build quality, switch feel and value; complaints include games where the keyboard stops registering a held key, and a Redragon shop customer who went through two units that started cycling on and off. Nobody has published a defect rate, so treat the freeze reports as a known risk rather than a measured failure rate. On the K585 PRO and later variants the switches are hot-swappable, so a dead switch can be replaced without soldering; the original wired version’s hot-swap status is unconfirmed. Redragon’s South Africa store lists an 18-month warranty on the K585 DITI ELITE PRO, but US warranty terms are not confirmed.
Is it worth it?
Redragon lists the K585 PRO wireless at $49.99, Newegg lists the Blue-switch PRO at $49.99, and a Redragon sale has taken it to $17.50. Redragon’s South Africa store lists the K585 DITI ELITE PRO at R 999.00. At $20 or less the PRO is an easy buy for a one-handed mechanical keypad; $21–35 is still good value; $36–50 is fair; above $50 look at keyboards with better software and QMK or VIA support. The wired K585 DITI has no battery and no confirmed hot-swap, so weigh it against the PRO when the prices are close.
