Summary
A wired full-size mechanical gaming keyboard with Razer’s Gen-3 switches, six dedicated macro keys, per-key Chroma RGB and an aluminum top plate, aimed at gamers who want the BlackWidow V4 platform without the Pro extras. Before buying, check that the wired-only V4 X is the model you want: the V4 (non-X) adds a wrist rest and two adjustable incline settings.
Strengths
- The aluminum alloy top plate keeps the board rigid without the Pro’s extra features.
- Six dedicated macro keys with on-the-fly recording sit under your left hand.
- Gen-3 switches are rated for up to 100 million keystrokes, double the industry standard.
- Sound-dampening foam and lubricated stabilizers come fitted from the factory.
- The multi-function roller and secondary media keys cover playback without reaching for shortcuts.
- Doubleshot ABS keycaps with extra-thick walls keep the legends from wearing off.
Weaknesses
- No instrumented independent test of the exact V4 X exists; the figures here are first-party.
- RTINGS calls the platform’s ABS keycaps a step below PBT and the board heavy and bulky.
- It is wired-only, with no wireless option in this model.
- Snap Tap, macros and full Chroma customization need Razer Synapse 4 running.
- The 2-year warranty applies only to RazerStore purchases; other retailers may differ.
- Dimensions, weight, cable length and polling rate were not published in the accessible specs.

Switches and build
The V4 X uses Razer’s third-generation mechanical switches: the Green variant gives an audible click with a tactile bump, the Yellow is a smooth, quiet linear. Razer rates both at up to 100 million keystrokes per switch and says that is double the industry standard — a manufacturer longevity claim, not an independently measured lifespan for this unit. RTINGS tested the V4 (non-X) with the linear Yellow switches and noted the clicky Greens are much louder.
Under the keycaps there is a sound-dampening foam layer and lubricated stabilizers, both fitted at the factory. The top plate is aluminum alloy, and the keycaps are doubleshot ABS with extra-thick walls so the legends should not wear off. RTINGS, testing the non-X variant, still rates ABS keycaps below PBT and describes the board as heavy and bulky.
Software and macros
Razer Synapse 4 is where the keyboard’s extra features live: Snap Tap input prioritization, macro programming for the six dedicated keys, and full Chroma RGB customization. Macros can also be recorded on the fly without the software. The multi-function roller and secondary media keys handle volume and playback. Plan on installing Synapse 4 — out of the box the board works as a keyboard, but its gaming features do not.
Which V4 to buy
The V4 X is the budget-oriented wired full-size member of the BlackWidow V4 family. The V4 (non-X) adds a wrist rest and two adjustable incline settings; the V4 Pro adds USB passthrough, an OLED dial and a wrist rest. Seller listings sometimes blur these distinctions, so match on the exact model name before you buy. The V4 X also ships in Minecraft, Pokemon and Zenless Zone Zero colorways.
Is it worth it?
Razer’s own store lists the V4 X starting at US$129.99, which positions it as the entry point into the V4 platform. What you get at that price is the switch quality, macro keys, media controls and build materials of the family, without the Pro’s passthrough and dial. The missing piece is independent testing: no instrumented review of the exact V4 X has been published, so typing feel and latency rest on first-party claims and the RTINGS review of the non-X sibling, which scored 8.8/10 with 8000Hz polling. Owner discussions were not available during this check, so there is no community track record to lean on yet. If you can live with a wired board and the Synapse 4 software, the V4 X is a reasonable way into the line; if you want a wrist rest or incline adjustment, step up to the V4 (non-X).
Which model this is
This page covers the Razer BlackWidow V4 X in Black, the wired full-size model with six macro keys. The Amazon listing carries ASIN B0C8QYB8W6. It is not the BlackWidow V4 (non-X) or the V4 Pro, which add a wrist rest, and in the Pro’s case USB passthrough and an OLED dial.
