Summary
A budget external-suction vacuum sealer with an 11.8-inch seal, built-in roll storage and cutter, a canister hose and separate Dry, Moist and Pulse programs. Treat it as light household equipment: the manual calls for 20 seconds between seals and long cooldowns after big batches, so check price and local availability before you buy.
Strengths
- Roll storage with cutter, pulse control, a canister port and separate dry/moist programs are features budget basic machines omit.
- Works with ordinary embossed bags and rolls, so there is no proprietary bag lock-in.
- A 2025 owner video called it inexpensive and basic but said it had worked well, with the core functions expected at the sale price.
- The listed five-year limited warranty is unusually long at this price.
- At 4 lb it moves in and out of a cupboard without ceremony.
- The manufacturer keeps an exact-model page and a North American customer-service channel.
Weaknesses
- The manual caps throughput: 20-second waits and 25-minute cooldowns make genuine batch work slow.
- “Professional Series” is branding; the manual rates it household, non-commercial use.
- Suction on paper is modest next to the stronger 90-95 kPa class.
- No instrumented independent test and almost no owner-review corpus exist, so long-term reliability is unproven.
- No published parts catalog: the gaskets and the Teflon strip over the heating bar have no obvious source.
- Full warranty terms and exclusions were not found in a standalone manufacturer document.

Duty cycle and batch work
The manual is the honest spec sheet. It asks for at least 20 seconds between seals, warns that heavy use can trigger a thermal shutdown needing 25 minutes of cooling, and says a run of more than 20 continuous bags should be followed by a 25-minute rest. Sealing a dozen freezer bags fits inside those limits; putting away a whole animal does not. “Professional Series” does not change that: the manual labels the machine household-only and explicitly not for commercial use. Store it with the lid unlocked so the sealing system is not left compressed.
Using it without ruining it
Fine powders can be drawn into the pump and shorten its life, so the manual suggests keeping powdery food in its original packaging inside the bag. Liquids should be partly frozen before bagging, and a paper towel below the seal area helps keep juicy meat or fish from pulling moisture into the vacuum channel. Expect the gaskets to wear: loose, worn or cracked upper or lower gaskets are the manual’s first explanation when vacuum drops, and moisture or wrinkles in the bag cause failed seals. The Teflon tape over the heating bar is another service-sensitive part, and the manual warns against tearing it. Overheating can melt bags or stop the unit outright.
Bags, parts and running costs
There is no subscription and no proprietary consumable here, so bags and rolls are the only recurring cost. As a benchmark, NESCO’s VS-05B 50-count pre-cut quart bags (8.6 × 11.8 in) run $23.99, about $0.48 each; on that measure 100 bags a year costs about $47.98 and 200 about $95.96, and cheaper generic rolls cut it further. Professional Series-branded 8-inch sealing material is listed at Target for $14.99. Electricity is negligible: at the 160 W rating an hour of maximum draw is 0.16 kWh, roughly $0.02 to $0.06 at $0.15 to $0.35 per kWh, and real sealing cycles are far shorter. The wear parts are the gap: gaskets, the Teflon cover and the silicone sealing bar all appear in the manual, but no exact-model part number or published price was found, and the manual directs service to after-sales support rather than owner repair.
What it costs
Menards listed the PS-VS119 at $49.29 in September 2026; an 11% mail-in rebate returns store credit rather than cutting the till price. Boscov’s listed it at $59.99 against a $79.99 ticket and was out of stock, and a matching Target listing sat at $69.99, also out of stock. An April 2026 liquidation auction sold one for $15 plus a 15% buyer premium, which is salvage pricing rather than retail value.
Which model this is
This page covers Professional Series model PS-VS119, the 11.8-inch double-seal machine; the matching Target listing lines up by UPC 765167872272 even though its title does not print the model number. Do not confuse it with the older PS-VS005, whose weak-vacuum and failed-seal reviews populate retail sites, or the PS-VS219, which pulls harder at 0.75 bar. The exact double-seal geometry is not clearly documented: the manual mentions a sealing line up to 3 mm, a sibling listing advertises two 2 mm lines, and no independent measurement settles it.
Is it worth it?
Buy at $50 or less if the feature list fits; that is where the roll workflow and the long warranty outweigh the modest suction. From $51 to $60 it stays reasonable. From $61 to $70 value is only fair, and NESCO’s VS-101-S at $79.99 direct, with 11.8-inch capacity, roll storage and cutter, a progress bar and two included rolls, closes the gap. Above $70, skip it unless this exact feature mix is what you want. For stronger measured suction, TechGearLab recorded 21.0 inHg from a NESCO VS-12P and scored it 81; Anova’s Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro is built for more than 100 continuous seals and carries a two-year warranty.
