Presto 07046 Tilt'nDrain BigGriddle: problems, parts and running costs

Checked: 2026-10-05

Summary

The most credible recurring complaint is uneven heat, from mild hot spots to a hot area near the probe with a cooler center, though independent testing of this model found only modest cooler zones at the center and edges. There are no filters or proprietary consumables, so running cost is near zero until a part fails: the removable heat control is about $26.81 if it dies out of warranty. Below about $55 it is excellent value for the roughly 285 sq in surface, good through about $70, and weak above $85.

Common problems and fixes

Parts and consumables

Yearly running cost

Near zero in a normal year. There are no filters or proprietary consumables, so nothing has to be bought on a schedule beyond normal cooking and cleaning supplies. The only realistic out-of-warranty cost is the replaceable heat control at about $26.81 (The Parts Biz, September 2026), and only if the original fails. Electricity use is not documented in the research, so no energy figure is given.

When it is a good buy

Value thresholds from the research: at $55 or below the 07046 is excellent value if the roughly 23 x 17 in footprint fits your kitchen; $55–70 is the normal good-buy range; $70–85 is fair only if Tilt’nDrain and maximum batch size specifically matter; above $85 it is weak value. Store prices checked 2026-09-27: Presto’s own store $69.99, Walmart about $66.66 and BrandsMart $69.99. A Best Buy marketplace listing near $94.59 was an inflated high-end offer, not normal value. If counter and sink space matter more than surface, compare a smaller or removable-plate griddle. If you want a different long-running Presto design around the same money, the Presto 07061 is priced similarly and has deeper review history, though it is a different design.
