Which model this is
Hamilton Beach labels the 49900 the FlexBrew Single-Serve Coffee Maker. The “FlexBrew Trio” name and the “12-cup glass carafe” spec belong to other machines: the Trio models 49902, 49904 and 49957 brew single cups or a full pot and include a carafe, while the 49900 does not. This one is a compact single-cup brewer with a 14 oz reservoir, touch controls and regular or bold brewing.
Owner feedback
The feedback that exists comes from retailer pages rather than long-term tests. Owners on Home Depot and Best Buy praise the ease of use, the coffee quality for the price, the compact size and the bold option; one calls it competitive with Keurig. The recurring criticism is the touch pad, which at least one owner describes as finicky. For the related 49902 Trio, Trustpilot reviewers report units that stopped brewing within months and carafe replacement parts on backorder. No failure pattern has been published for the 49900 itself.
Running costs and parts
There is no pod lock-in: the 49900 takes any K-Cup pod or ground coffee, so the running cost is whatever you pay for pods or beans. Hamilton Beach sells the wear parts directly: a needle holder and seal at $5.99, a single-serve pack holder at $5.99, a grounds basket at $4.99, a single-serve brew basket at $4.99, a needle seal at $2.99 and a removable cup rest at $4.99. The cup rest pulls out and stores the pod holder or brew basket.
Is it worth it?
At $60 or less the 49900 is a good value for a narrow single-serve machine: pod and ground-coffee flexibility, a bold option and a footprint under 5 in. From $61 to $80 the value is fair and worth comparing with other single-serve machines, and above $80 it is weak next to its $59.99 list price. At the time of this research Hamilton Beach listed it at $59.99 but out of stock, Home Depot listed $62.45 and a Best Buy third-party seller listed $103.57.
