Summary
A 27-inch 4K USB-C monitor with a 120 Hz IPS panel, 65 W laptop charging and a built-in USB hub, built for productivity buyers who also game casually. Check the plasticky build and the macOS flickering reports carried over from its predecessor before you buy.
Strengths
- Owners describe the 4K text and visuals as “gorgeous”.
- The 120 Hz refresh rate is a noticeable step up from 60 Hz for productivity and gaming.
- One USB-C cable carries the picture and charges a laptop at up to 65 W.
- The built-in speakers are “surprisingly loud and clear”, with modest bass reproduction.
- A 3-year limited hardware warranty with Advanced Exchange Service is longer than many competitors at this price.
- Under $300 it is one of the few 27-inch 4K 120 Hz IPS monitors from a major brand.
Weaknesses
- At 350 nits there is no meaningful HDR; HDR content looks similar to SDR.
- The 1,500:1 IPS contrast leaves blacks grayish in dark rooms next to VA or OLED panels.
- Owners describe the build as “more low cost” than the UltraSharp line, with lighter plastic and a less sturdy base.
- Some owners report macOS flickering issues inherited from the S2722QC era.
- The stand cannot rotate fully vertical without a monitor arm.
- Some owners cannot reach 120 Hz through certain docking stations; one report involved a WD22TB4 dock.

The picture
WIRED measured the sibling S2725QS, which shares this panel, at 355 nits, 1,270:1 contrast, 100% sRGB and 79% AdobeRGB, with an average color error of DeltaE 1.16, and rated it 8/10 as “the best monitor the average person working from home should buy”. On the S2725QC that means crisp text and accurate color out of the box for productivity work and casual gaming. The limits are brightness and contrast: 350 nits is entry-level, HDR content looks similar to SDR, and blacks go gray in a dark room. RTINGS calls it “a cost-friendly 4k, 27-inch productivity monitor”, though its full test data sits behind a membership paywall, and 91mobiles praises its “USB-C, HDMI 2.1, and sharp visuals” as “a superb all-around package”.
USB-C, the hub and docking
The S2725QC’s reason to exist is the USB hub it adds over the S2725QS, which has only 2× HDMI 2.1 and 1× DisplayPort 1.4: the hub carries 1× USB-C DP Alt Mode, 1× USB-C and 2× USB-A downstream, for about $50 more. WIRED recommends the upgrade if port selection matters. One USB-C cable drives the display and charges a laptop at up to 65 W; the included cable is a 10 Gbps 100 W cable, but the monitor itself delivers 65 W. Some owners cannot reach 120 Hz through certain docking stations; one report involved a WD22TB4 dock connected to an S2725QS. If you dock through a hub, confirm 120 Hz works with your dock before you buy.
Build, stand and warranty
The stand gives 5 inches of height adjustment, tilt, rotation and swivel, but it does not rotate fully vertical; portrait mode needs a monitor arm. Owners comparing it with Dell’s U2724D say the S2725QC has the better panel but feels “more low cost”, with lighter plastic and a less sturdy base. The warranty is a 3-year limited hardware plan with Advanced Exchange Service, which is longer than many competitors at this price. Dell publishes a simplified service manual (March 2025) and sells replacement parts through its support site.
macOS and known issues
Some S2722QC owners reported flickering with Macs, and a few owners still raise the same concern with this model. In one MacRumors thread Dell allegedly told a user “it is not a macOS compatible monitor”, yet other users in the same thread report using it successfully with M-series Macs. A MacRumors poll shows 84% of 21 voters would recommend the monitor, a small sample, so read it as a sentiment check rather than a reliability statistic. Nobody has published failure-rate data for this model.
Is it worth it?
WIRED reported the sibling S2725QS at a $300 list price and $250 at Dell in September 2025; Dell USA lists the S2725QS at $299.99, and a Reddit post mentioned Micro Center member pricing of $249.99. The S2725QC adds the USB hub for about $50 more. The research’s value thresholds: under $250 is strong, $250–300 is good, $300–350 is fair and above $350 is weak — few 27-inch 4K 120 Hz IPS monitors from major brands sit under $300 with USB-C and a 3-year warranty.
Which model this is
This page covers the Dell 27 Plus 4K USB-C Monitor, model S2725QC, regulatory model S2725QCb. It is the updated successor to the S2722QC and sits above the S2725QS in Dell’s Plus Series; the two share a panel, and the QC adds the USB hub. The Amazon listing for this monitor is ASIN B0F1GFD44G.
