Summary
A 14-cup programmable drip coffee maker for households that want a big, hot pot without espresso-machine fuss, with a 24-hour timer, brew-strength control and a 3-year warranty. Check the glass carafe on its hot plate before you buy: coffee left warming for an hour can taste burnt.
Strengths
- Brews hot enough for good extraction: Consumer Reports confirmed the 195°F guideline for five or six minutes.
- The 24-hour timer, 1-4 cup mode and Brew Pause cover everyday routines without extra gear.
- A 3-year limited warranty is longer than most machines in this class.
- Cuisinart sells exact-model replacement parts, from water filters to the carafe lid.
- The gold-tone permanent filter cuts ongoing paper-filter costs.
- The 14-cup carafe suits families and entertaining.
Weaknesses
- The glass carafe sits on a hot plate, so coffee left warming for an hour can turn burnt-tasting.
- The machine is not SCA-certified, and Wirecutter’s drip guide does not recommend it.
- Owners report leakage when the reservoir is overfilled, grounds overflowing into the basket and carafe, and a carafe lid that drips.
- The water tank is awkward to refill, and darker roasts can over-extract.
- The 14-cup label means about 70 oz, roughly 9 modern 8-oz mugs, not 14 full mugs.
- Nobody has published a failure rate, so treat the leak and overflow reports as a known annoyance rather than a defect.

Brewing and temperature
Consumer Reports, the only instrumented test found, confirmed the DCC-3200 meets the recommended brew-temperature guideline of 195°F or more and holds it for five or six minutes. Foodal’s hands-on review puts the brew temperature around 200°F and credits the showerhead dispersion and the 1-4 cup button for small batches. Homegrounds praised the showerhead flow, the variable-temperature hot plate and the build quality, but found the water tank awkward to refill and warned that darker roasts can over-extract. The machine has no adjustable brew temperature or pre-bloom control, and it is not SCA-certified. Wirecutter’s drip guide recommends only SCA-certified machines with thermal carafes, noting that glass-carafe hot-plate machines can produce burnt-tasting coffee after an hour.
Filters, parts and running costs
The cone-style gold-tone permanent filter is dishwasher safe, so paper filters are optional; the charcoal water filter should be replaced about every 60 days, though reviewers say 3-6 months may be enough depending on water quality. Cuisinart sells exact-model parts: charcoal water filters at $8.50, a water filter holder at $8.95, a filter basket holder at $15.95 and a carafe lid at $8.95. Descaling runs through the self-clean cycle when the indicator light comes on, and there is no pod lock-in.
What owners say
Owner feedback on retailer sites is generally positive, clustered around coffee quality, the hotter brew temperature, the 14-cup capacity and the programmable features. Recurring complaints from review snippets and Q&A include water leaking when the reservoir is overfilled, grounds overflowing into the basket and carafe, and the carafe lid dripping during pouring. A few owners report the machine failing to start, which may relate to the power-reset procedure. These are review snippets and search excerpts, not controlled failure-rate data.
Is it worth it?
Below about $90 the DCC-3200NAS is a strong value for a 14-cup programmable machine with hotter brewing and a 3-year warranty. At $119.95, its listed price at Cuisinart, Macy’s and Home Depot, it is fair value: the capacity and features compete, but you accept the glass-carafe hot-plate tradeoff and the lack of SCA certification. Cuisinart’s own sale page shows a $30 drop to $89.95. Past $120, SCA-certified thermal-carafe machines such as the Bonavita Enthusiast at about $230 and the OXO Brew 9-Cup at about $250 offer more brew-quality assurance. Best Buy lists the DCC-3200NAS at $119.95 but marks it no longer available in new condition.
