Summary
A narrow, entry-level semi-automatic espresso machine with a thermoblock heater and a manual steam wand. Check what comes in the box: it ships only with a pressurized dual-wall portafilter, and one reviewer found shot quality inconsistent.
Strengths
- A very small 5.7-inch width, narrow enough for tight counters.
- Easy for beginners, with responsive circular buttons.
- A steam wand that one reviewer found had fewer problems than on other CASABREWS machines, and another found performed ideally.
- Pressurized baskets let beginners start immediately with pre-ground coffee.
- Hot-water dispensing and a descaling function.
- A first-party replacement-parts channel, including a portafilter shared with the 5418 series.
Weaknesses
- Ships only with a pressurized portafilter, so a bottomless one is needed for non-pressurized espresso.
- No three-way solenoid valve, so puck pressure is not relieved after a shot.
- Shot-to-shot inconsistency in one reviewer’s testing.
- Post-pull dripping and a portafilter sneeze that ejects wet grounds.
- The shower-screen screw presses into the coffee bed during extraction.
- The steam wand needs purging after most uses or it overheats.

Shot quality: two reviews disagree
Two hands-on reviews of this exact model exist and they disagree. Tom’s Guide called it one of the cheapest machines available and “actually a really good machine”, praising the small footprint, responsive buttons and a steam wand with fewer issues than other CASABREWS machines it had tested. TechRadar was much harsher, describing it as a machine that “sadly trips at too many hurdles”, with shot consistency a gamble, fluctuations extreme even by budget standards, and no confidence in getting the same cup twice. In a same-beans comparison, TechRadar found the CASABREWS CM5418 produced more balanced results. Neither reviewer published measured brew temperature or puck pressure, so the split is not settled by data.
Pressure, cleanup and the missing valve
The most useful engineering finding is the missing three-way solenoid valve, which TechRadar links directly to post-pull dripping and a “portafilter sneeze” that sprayed wet grounds. That is a design choice a buyer cannot fix by technique. The 20-bar figure is a maximum pump rating printed by the manufacturer and repeated by reviewers, not a measured pressure at the puck, and the machine has no gauge to check it. The supplied baskets are pressurized, which forces water through a small hole and produces a fake crema; a non-pressurized or bottomless portafilter is effectively required for real espresso. The shower screen has a large screw that imprints the coffee bed.
Parts, maintenance and warranty
Maintenance is documented: a descaling reminder and function, a removable tank and drip tray, a first-use procedure involving a rubber tank plug and about 8 seconds of hot water through the wand, and a warning that parts are not dishwasher-safe. Model-specific fault codes are published, but the near-identical page for the sibling 3700GENSE assigns different components to the same symptoms, so diagnoses should not be carried across models. CASABREWS runs a replacement-parts store carrying a stainless steel portafilter shared with the 5418 series plus 51 mm accessories, but no pump, thermoblock or control board was found listed, so internal repairability is unknown. Warranty is 1 year parts and labor, with optional extended plans offered.
Which model this is
This page covers the CASABREWS 3700ESSENTIAL, a 20-bar compact machine with a steam wand, sold in Silver, Beige, Black, Pastel Green and Sapphire Blue. Do not merge it with the 3700GENSE, the 3700PRO, or the 5418/CM5418 family, all of which are separate machines. The US Amazon listing cross-checked to this model is ASIN B0BRSP8YT6, though the exact variant is not established.
