Summary

A 96%/99-key gasket-mounted mechanical keyboard for budget buyers who want tri-mode wireless, hot-swap and a long-lasting battery. Check which switch and layout you are buying: ISO-ES versions are wired-only, and switch options change by storefront.

Strengths

  • Gasket mount, five-layer dampening and a flex-cut PCB give a soft, low-pitched typing sound at this price.
  • Tri-mode 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and wired on ANSI versions, with full hot-swap.
  • The 8000 mAh battery is rated for up to 400 hours with the lighting off.
  • 1000 Hz polling and about 7.9 ms wireless latency suit gaming as well as typing.
  • The 99-key layout keeps the numpad while saving desk space.
  • Owners report months of daily work use with no complaints.

Weaknesses

  • The case is ABS plastic; RTINGS calls the build “decent” with “significant deck flex”.
  • The keycaps do not shine through, so the legends are hard to read in the dark.
  • The configuration software is Windows-only and described as unintuitive with limited keymapping.
  • RedditRecs lists inconsistent Bluetooth and slight 2.4 GHz delay among the F99 Pro’s top complaints.
  • The F99 Pro is difficult to open for internal work beyond swapping switches.
  • Switch options and even the layout naming vary by storefront, so the retail specs are inconsistent.

Typing feel and sound

The F99 hangs its feel on a gasket mount with an extended integrated silicone pad and five layers of dampening around a 1.2 mm flex-cut PCB. RTINGS called the typing experience “excellent” with a “springy, gasket-mount design”, but warned it may feel too soft and flexible for anyone who prefers a stiff board. Can Buy or Not heard a “muted, low-pitched typing sound that won’t bother your neighbours” and found the chassis “solidly constructed, with no flex”, the opposite of RTINGS’s deck-flex finding. APH Networks, reviewing the F99 Pro, described a “creamy, clacky, and marbly” sound. Nobody has run a controlled comparison, so treat the feel as personal preference rather than a measured result.

Connectivity, battery and software

ANSI versions are tri-mode, and RTINGS measured about 7.9 ms of latency on 2.4 GHz and 5.9 ms wired at a 1000 Hz polling rate. The 8000 mAh battery is rated for up to 53 hours with RGB on and 400 hours with it off; APH Networks measured over 54 hours of wireless use on the F99 Pro, and Can Buy or Not saw the battery level “barely drop” over half a week of mixed 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth use. ISO-ES versions are wired-only, which is easy to miss. Owners praise the battery and the sound. The recurring complaints target the Windows-only software and keycaps that do not shine through, while RedditRecs lists inconsistent Bluetooth and slight 2.4 GHz delay among the F99 Pro’s top complaints. One owner on r/keyboards prefers the F99 Pro for its knob and south-facing RGB.

Repairs, parts and warranty

Hot-swap means you can change switches without soldering, and the stabilizers come factory-lubed. Beyond that, servicing is limited: APH Networks found the F99 Pro “difficult to open” for internal work, and no parts catalog exists past switches. aulagear.com gives a 12-month warranty covering factory defects, with 7-day no-reason returns at aulagear.com and aulakeyboard.com and 15-day returns at aula-keyboards.com. One aulagear.com reviewer reported an RGB and power indicator failure after 3 months; that is an individual complaint, not a failure rate.

Prices

AULA’s storefronts show the F99 across a wide band. aulakeyboard.com lists it at $85.90 and aulagear.com at $89.99, while aula-keyboards.com shows $72.24 cut from $82.99, and aulane.shop has run it at $24.00, down from $79.99 in a 70% promotion. KeebFinder lists $79 through Epomaker, and APH Networks put the F99 Pro at $86–90. None of these holds permanently: the same board varies by storefront, sale status and colorway, so confirm the switch option and the layout before you buy.

Which model this is

This page covers the AULA F99 tri-mode wireless keyboard, the 96%/99-key ANSI version with pre-lubed linear switches, an 8000 mAh battery and north-facing RGB. The US Amazon listing is ASIN B0CLLHSWRL. Do not confuse it with the F99 Pro, which adds a knob, or the F99 MAX, which adds a TFT screen and a knob. ISO-ES versions are wired-only. Switch options differ by storefront, so check the exact listing before buying.
